Yeah, thats a Great Depression/Dust Bowl era image.

Which I suspect was no accident.

And is kind of an example of whats in the pipeline soon.

We're already seeing larger migration numbers in the US currently than that era.

Thing to know, is that at that time, the over grazing of the Great Plains, due to cattle and fencing, versus free range Buffalo, was hit by a drought that caused the current desertification.

The Western US at the time was dotted by small communities, and farms and Ranches. And when the drought hit, it all dried up, and the over grazing took out the Buffalo grass and Gamma grasses.

You can still see these communities and farms on county land maps, parcels in the middle of nowhere... usually now owned by locals hoping to sell to suckers, due to zoning restrictions.

But the thing to know, is that the rains cycle, but the grasses have never been replanted.

And that the rainfall is there in most areas that the grasses could be re introduced if the cattle were fenced out, and somebody didnt mind doing the work.

Buffalo grass is best propagated from planting clumps nursed in an area where they can be grown via plant division rather than seed. And also that the sage is your nitrogen fixer.

The problem is the cattle prefer the grass and leave the sage.

ie you need to have plenty of area, and rotate your livestock.

And with the modern water condenser tech, and water storage, its all possible to do.

Its like a perfect storm for a reboot, if invested in and done wisely.

And if one used Beefalo instead of pure domestic cattle, they will eat a higher ratio of Sage, and create better balance.

The zoning restrictions are the root of urban homelessness, and as the system collapses will become moot. Meaning one living Nomadic, could play a shell game, and start working on the land in the interim.

Wise would be searching for a parcel, and getting it fenced, and starting to replant, and use condenser and storage tech to even allow plantings of food trees.

Heading for self sufficiency at the same time the system was collapsing.

And use the current problem/opportunity dichotomy to reverse the trend of a hundred years ago.
