Only wealthy families can afford having a woman, especially if you are only allowed to have one child...so poor families will abort in secret the girls, so as to try again for a boy. The boy is the only one culturally responsible for the parents welfare in old age. A daughter is not required to care for her parents in old age.

While I get the satire implied in your post there may be something to this policy which might make the women in China a bit more entitled then they are elsewhere in the world. In Chinese society the son (The firstborn son, back when they were allowed larger families), would take in his parents and care for them when they got old. Daughters would get married and presumably take care of their husband's parents when they became elderly. As a result many female fetuses are aborted, and in the countryside many female babies are abandoned. Chinese orphanages are full of little girls who were abandoned. As a result the male to female ratio is not close to 50/50 as it is in most other countries, but is closer if not more than 60/40. So not only are all those women trying to lock down the upper 10% of guys, but there are a lot less of them, putting them in higher demand further upping the attitude.

It was seen as evil, but current years people see it is natural mechanism for animals to control their population density.

(The chain of policy making was brutal and aimed in destroying old social fabric and norm, first they encourage reproduction, than they make a famine, explode the population again, and start the notorious one child policy)

Chinese are cold to the weak and have much more meritocracy than you think, so with only a daughter, you are guraunteed a bad later life if you have one.

(Xi have tried to talk his women into old ways, but… nothing happens as I recall )

Chinese Government, not only current regime love to play with population policies because they need manpower but they hate free men the same.

On a heartwarming note, at least some of the number is inflated by Chinese families who refused to report children.
