Not as well known or acknowledged in history as it's more famous cousin, the P-51 Mustang, it was the Thunderbolt that was the primary fighter of the USAAF in Europe for the majority of WW2. Mounting 8 .50 inch machine guns and able to carry 2500lbs of bombs, rockets or extra fuel, the Thunderbolt was the fighter that broke the back of the German Luftwaffe in 1943-44, earning the nickname 'The Ace Maker' as more US pilots became an ace in this aircraft than any other over Europe.

What makes it a MGTOW's aircraft you ask; because of what I heard one P-47 pilot say; "If you wanted a girlfriend, go and fly a P-51 Mustang. If you wanted to go home alive, fly a Thunderbolt".
