I discovered TRP a little bit before the first covid lockdown and I decided to start lifting. Unfortunately the gym closed shortly afterwards, but I was determined so I invested in a pull up bar and I started doing bodyweight workouts at home.
I was skinny fat, I built some muscles and lost a lot of fat (about 20 lbs) by learning how to cook and educating myself on nutrition.
Then, for the first time of my life, I started getting interest from girls. Every day, at least one girl on the subway or on the bus would check me out. Some would get really close to me and look at their phone, sometimes looking at me. Some would "bump" into me. Some would get off the subway, turn around and give me eye contact and then watch the train leave with me inside. For a while I wasn't sure it was interest but then it became quite obvious.
The issue I have is, even if I'm also interested in the girls that show me interest, I reject them. I reject them because I think I'm not worthy yet. I have this image of a super shredded dude that I need to be in order to deserve a girl, and I feel like until I'm that guy I can't be with a girl. There is that little voice in my head "you aren't good enough, ripped enough, hot enough....". The only issue is that it would realistically take me YEARS of working out to get to that super shredded physique and I obviously would like to be able to enjoy some female company before that.
Do you have any advice on how to get past this mental blockage?
