Give it 30 min at least 3-4 days a week. Like anything you'll see improvement.

I recommend getting use to chords in this pattern

G - Em - E - Am - C - F - A - D - Dm

All the chords are really next to each other cept for when you get to A, D, and Dm. Once you know how to make these chords then start mixing them up. You can do some 7th chords too. Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd is a good song to start out with. 3 chords songs to get you going are

Three Little Birds
Sweet Home Alabama

It'd be different though if you're pass the beginning stages. You can start bar chords, some scaling if you like, intermediate 5+ chords songs. Hotel California is a great intermediate song that goes through like every open chord. Stevie Ray songs are really good for blues chord playing and rythym

Ok it could come from bad technique. With a chord like C or Am, a finger could block a string or your finger not having enough pressure which will cause a buzz. The G string and thinner strings are usually the ones harder to press since they dig into your fingers making them hurt

I teach to drop the wrist a bit, arch the fingers over each string, and press down hard enough, pick each string individually, then strum all strings.

If your technique is good, then it could be your nut or your saddle is too low. Since it's only the G, you could fit a piece of paper into the G slot on the nut to raise the string. For an acoustic, since all strings sit on one leveled saddle, that saddle should be evenly sanded. Same for the nuut

Next could be a twist in the neck. A neck and fretboard should be straight aligned with the body. If there's a twist, you'll notice it by looking down the neck from the body and the neck won't be straight as it sits onto the body. It'll lean or turn either right or left. Looking from the body, turning/leaning left it would bring the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings closer to the fretboard, and turning/leaning right the 4th, 5th, and 6th. You can look at the headstock end too and headstock SHOULD be linear with the body itself. If there are slight turns or leans, then it shouldn't be a big deal and probably can fixed with nut and saddle adjustments

A neck twist is caused by the neck connection in the neck slot to the body being damaged, the body itself being damaged close to that slot, or the fingerboard and neck being damaged. Too much heat and humidity will cause expansion and the glue to loosen causing the neck or fretboard to warp or twist out of the spot it was in. So what causes warps or twists are glue connections in a guitar. The fretboard to neck or the neck to body. If this is what is wrong, then you'll need a very good luthier to fix the neck twist. That can involve heating up the guitar to heat the glue connections and reset them. Might be cheaper to buy another guitar or if it's recently bought, contact the store and see if you can get another guitar. Keep guitars in well controlled temps to avoid this.
