My dad yesterday found out that his GF (I say gf because he and my mom separated but are still on good terms) was cheating on him, and this was really sad for him. :(

I’m 51 and I get the loneliness part at the older age. I empathize with your dad. And once you’re too old to have kids, and you’re just dating and not commingling your bank accounts, yeah I totally get him wanting some companionship. Hopefully he feels better soon. You’re a good kid.

Looking to another human for your happiness=emotional dependence, and a guarantee of misery.

Emotional independence= Peace and happiness.

Sadly, most people never get past emotional dependence; as social primates, we seek the validation of mate and tribe. It's in our DNA.

But, in ClownWorld, our drives have been turned against us. The ideal mate our blood cries out for, doesn't exist. Your father's idealism is his downfall.
