Earth is on the brink of destruction and will go out with a whimper and not a bang. Intelligent and self-respecting men want out, but when they are given a way out what will they do with it? While life on Earth offers copious amounts of bread and circuses, it does not offer anything more than that, and on top of the general feeling of malaise and lack of any real purpose, the entire world is on a snowball's trajectory of self-destruction. While another game would hardly help matters, a conversation with a suspiciously well-informed individual makes him believe the world is far more than just a game.
