I used to play a game called Town of Salem. It was a roleplaying game very similar to mafia, where you had to convince everyone else of your innocence and try to play the part as best you could. My win rate spiked as soon as I started using female-sounding aliases. People would trust me more, accuse me less, think more highly of me, and even sometimes throw the game for me. Yet women are supposedly marginalized and discriminated against in video games?

I've seen some women on YouTube get verbally attacked whenever they where playing video games with guys for being a girl although I never seen such things happen often whenever I play games,I've seen women get asked out by every guy in the game when they reveal that they're a girl, and then other women just have typical gaming experience like the rest of us.

When I was playing league I had found a couple people who were really friendly and helped carry me in my ranked games. Later one of them asked me if I was a girl. It was at that moment that I knew they thought I was a girl. They had assumed it cause I played "e-girl champs". After I replied with a no I never seen them again. They carried my hardstuck ass to a higher rank. No regrets acting like an e-girl to get free ranked points.
