But they're either seeking an ATM or they're deluding themselves into thinking they'll suddenly be happy in a relationship where Chad isn't railing them and treating them like trash.

Because they are confused. They favored and created a society that replaced genuine love/responsibility with hookup culture/frivolity because they could not measure up to the standards of "traditional" good men who wanted worthy mates.
