I'm 28 and in the position to move in the next few months. I've had success in a quiet, affluent area in California the past few years. Solid LTR, solid plates...but all's considered, I'm bored. Ready for a change.

I've lived in NYC (loved the culture), spent most of my youth in the South (loved the rent) and most of my adulthood on the west coast (love the weather). That said, I'm ready to just have 2-3 years of feasting. Maybe I'll look into marriage after 35 or 40...if the right one comes along. Maybe. But for now, I want to apply TRP principles on a Costco scale.

I want to:

1) Live closer to family

2) Live in a larger metro

3) Have a fun social life.

So tale of the tape:

Car-necessary Nashville is a 3 hour drive from home, car-unfriendly Chicago is a one hour flight home. I call this a wash, since I'm fine with either lifestyle.

Now sizably, obviously Chicago is fucknormous and hella dense. It's a non-stop flight to almost everywhere. It's sexually liberal. Nashville is a mid sized city and is by and large spread out and suburban...and Jesusly. It is a touristy, college town though. A lot of women come to Nashville to make mistakes and 'have an experience.' I feel this is also a wash.

Fun social life? I feel I could have more fun in a town where people don't all settle down before 30 and there's more plentiful options. Point Chicago.

Weatherwise and financially? 400 miles south of the Great Lakes and plantation sized housing for cheap makes Nashville desirable.

PS: I'm white. That probably makes a difference.

So I'm sort of stuck between the two. If you're familiar with one of them, what do you think? Both? Even better. Just watched a lot of tv about the two places? Your input is welcome as well.
