Crosspost "Ex filed for a move away motion. Dreading the court hearing coming up." from /r/Divorce:
Hello Reddit,
My ex recently filed for a move-away petition in the court. In the FCS call she mentioned she wants to move 2800 mile away from California as she’s moving on in life and getting married. Another reason she gave was that she got a better job there and she can take care of our son better. We have been mostly 50-50 custody informally for last 3 yrs. I’m saying mostly 50-50 because she’s skipped her custody time multiple times due to her travels etc. I never complained and was in fact happy that I was getting more time with my son. In the FCS call she was asked what would she do if the judge doesn’t grant move away and she said irrespective she’s moving because she’s found new love and that she’s getting married. The judge didn’t look at any of this information and gave a court hearing date for custody. My ex has been making statement which make me feel like she’s very confident that she’s going to get the move-away request granted. I’m worried I’m missing something. There wasn’t any domestic violence or abuse in my case. She went on record stating that I’m a good father and we have been doing 50-50.
What am I missing here? How should I prepare for the court hearing?
