This has already been debunked numerous times. Given pregnancy leave, shorter shifts and different occupations that what makes the difference.

[–]unjustexistence 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Right. They have done studies on several industries finding out that gap after adjustments is only 2 or 3 cents.

You can assume from that data that the wage gap is the same in every occupation in Canada so there's no point looking into it.

[–]TigPlaze 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Exactly. What feminists are demanding is equal pay for less work.

[–]OriginalMrMuchacho 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

'equal pay for work of equal value'… what, exactly, are the specific metrics used to determine ‘work of equal value’? Who is deciding those metrics and are we voting on them? If not, how can those ‘value’ metrics be considered equal? Unless there is a country-wide referendum about what constitutes ‘equal value’ metrics, this plan is doomed to be rife with bias, subjectivity and flawed reasoning… the exact opposite this concept aims to accomplish. Think about it.

Note: this is a government driven concept, keep that in mind.

The issue is correlated with pregnancy and children, it is not intrinsic to the gender you identify with.

Paradoxically, the government should give longer paternal leave; in this way women wouldn't lose 'more time/experience' than men.

And mandatory or they won't take it.

[–]Sonic-draws 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I feel like most women miss way more then 11 percent of the time men work so we should widen the gap

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This will have largely no effect.

What they need to do is have more female lumberjacks, oilfield workers.

But the dummy feminist can't figurecthat out.

[–]ZS_1171 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

They arent being taxed for being a woman. They just generally choose worse paying jobs.

[–]Reddit1984Censorship 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Feminazi trash.

[–]brunomarswifey -1 points0 points1 point 5 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

how come this is on mens rights? Women are making less than men in this article, it seems more like a womens problem than a mens. Not that men cant help but this is for mens rights isnt it?

[–]Jugrnot8 5 points6 points7 points 5 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link

Because it's an example of how there is still this bullshit headline running around that is divisive and puts men under attack.

When you actually understand the data you will see men actually get the short end of this stick and not women. We do all the hard labor and difficult shit then women want to compare our labor to them setting in a nice air conditioned office.

It's not apples to apples and men get fucked by this shitty myth, it's just horrible propaganda against men (in the long run) and you hear crazy fanatic feminists run around believing this and thinking it's all the devil PaTrIaRchY!

[–]ideletedmyse1f 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Do you think teaching is easy labor?

[–]brunomarswifey 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

yeah thats what i was gettin ready to say, things like teaching and what not take a lot of work and patience.

[–]Jugrnot8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

The point this headline is trying to propogate is that if a man and women are doing the exact same job the man makes more money. This is simply not true. Find me any large company not paying equally. I think Google even found that women were paid more than men for the same job and they corrected it.

Do you think male servers make as much as women? Sex workers? The answer is no. And those are apples to apples.

This idea that women make less is when you are comparing apples and oranges or very niche careers like male and female athletes. Or like the example of commission jobs as i mentioned above.

It's a classic example of skewing data to mislead people

[–]brunomarswifey 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

male sex workers arent as in high demand tho those arent really compariable, most women dont even care for male strippers and im pretty sure there more so used for rentals for parties and what not, tbh im pretty sure theres gonna be more women just enjoying the women over the men

[–]Jugrnot8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're missing the point and focusing on an entirely different part of the argument.

[–]brunomarswifey 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

im just saying that the example didnt really make sense

[–]Jugrnot8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I did not say that did i?

You can't compare teaching to hard labor though. As i said it's apples to oranges comparison.

[–]SpunkyDred 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

apples to oranges

But you can still compare them.

[–]Jugrnot8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes yes you can. You can compare many unrelated things.

[–]brunomarswifey 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

hard labor is obviously hard but i think you should still consider that women have different responsibilities compared to men. it doesnt seem like any side of it is good

[–]Jugrnot8 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's difficult for everyone. I agree. I try to understand womens difficulties and men's. I don't identify with the traditional man but i try to understand everyone and biologically i have a penis so I've gotten to see how horrible men are treated and how horrible women are treated. It's life we all need to empathize and continue working on a better world for the future of everyone.

I'm also mixed and don't identify with either race but i can see how people treat different races.

I'm me. I don't have a dog in this fight. These are just observations as someone who sets back and tries to understand the bigger picture.
