Its the same as the White Ribbon charity..

The movement, while noble out right ignores the fact that MEN are also victims of violence..
Hence why I can not in good faith support them because I care about equality.

Getting back on track regarding health..
More men die from Prostate cancer per year than women do from Breast Cancer.. yet in every case Breast Cancer receives over double the amount of funding that Prostate Cancer gets..

But yeah.. it is rather disgusting how blatant things like this are..

Today though, while I was shopping for some cold medicine at cvs, I was asked if I wanted to round up my payment for WOMENS heart health. Not heart health. WOMENS heart health.

Note that there is a men’s health network org and they are part of the official Men’s Health Week coming up in June. Also there is prostate cancer month which is September.

Yes there is less stuff for prostate vs breast cancer, but there is some movement. Want to get involved? This is a perfect issue if you do.

This should push every man to examine what steps he can take to invest in his own long term health through basic diet and exercise. It’s depressing to find out the world doesn’t care about you but it can motivate you to care about yourself first.

I understand heart disease effects men more than women and men are more likely to suffer heart attacks at younger ages.

Can I ask how old you are? And if you were born after, say, 1995, how did you come across this information?

I've had a nagging wonder/worry for a while now that we're raising a generation of boys to think that heart disease is something women, in particular, need to worry about because that's the only messaging they ever receive. I think it's taken for granted that everybody will just know that men are more at risk for heart disease, because that used to be common knowledge... but is it still? Will it continue to be?

Hi! As a medical student I can tell you that this is because the past Millenia of medicine, to this day has mostly been studying male anatomy, and how the diseases affect them. Most drug trials have a completely male cohort, so we know what drugs work best for males with a pathological presentation. We are less likely to diagnose a heart attack in a female because the pathological signs and symptoms that are in every text book mostly pertain to the presentation of a male patient. It was only just over a century ago that doctors believed a females illness (most illnesses in fact) was due to her uterus wandering around her body causing havoc wherever it went.

There is no feminist agenda here, it is simply the medical world playing catch up. Please feel free to ask any questions

In some ways it makes sense to do this from a strength of society point of view. Women take a long time to reproduce. A population of 100 women and 50 men will reach equilibrium faster than a population of 50 women and 100 men. It's why men are sent off to war and women aren't. It's purely a pragmatic strategy. In some ways, the fact we're all here, show's it worked in the past when violent death was far more common.

A population recovers from men dying on the titanic quicker than the women & children dying. It's an awful thing to say but unfortunately it's true.

I guess it's a deep, fundamental, question. Would you rather weaken society for equality?
