The issue of a man being found guilty of a serious crime (circa 1988) by mob rule and media trial is a serious issue for men's rights.

Police investigators from three Australian jurisdictions have dropped this case, as there was insufficient evidence to support any chance of a conviction (NSW, South Australia and Federal Police). That means the evidence was so poor there was not only no chance of a conviction, but also the evidence was so poor it wasn't even worth while putting the evidence before a judge and/or jury. The offense was alleged to have occurred some 33 years ago when the accuser and the accused were 16 and 17 years of age, and there is no material evidence or witnesses.

It appears that several of the commentors here are politically partisan, and are happy to condemn this man as guilty of rape, despite a lack of evidence, on the basis that several women (feminists) have accused him of misogyny and making sexual advances towards women during his lifetime, particularly when he was younger. He has certainly been the focus of a concerted effort to embarass the current Australian government (conservatives), by the opposition (think democrats), and the media (think CNN), at a time when the loss of one member might tip the government into a minority and an early election.

While some believe this man is not a very nice person, he has not committed any crime (excepting those crimes accused by feminists; i.e. misogyny, toxic masculinity, being a sexually active male).

Tragically, the woman who originally made the accusation took her own life several years ago, after a long battle with mental illness. We should all have sympathy and respect for her family who shared that battle with her, and are no doubt still touched with the terrible grief of her loss.

Actually, in retrospect I have to admit and acknowledge that I do in fact have a political affiliation.

And surely it is concerning that he ‘categorically denies’ all of the allegations occurred, yet 24 hours later is admitting it is ‘plausible’ they had dinner together in 1994. Remember he stated repeatedly they never had contact after 1988.

Sadly, it is these behaviours that holds Men’s Rights back - especially coming from a chief law maker. And unfortunately I fear the media has more little gotcha’s to come out in the next few days...
