Just read this on r/nottheonion and I had to sort by controversial to find anyone who was legitimately sympathetic towards the victim. Had to stop myself from commenting. It had over 25k upvotes, mostly being flippant and making fun of the guy.

It really pisses me off seeing so many people laughing at, and awarding, each other over a person being permanently disfigured. Not only that but blaming the victim too. All the "seems strange that he followed her" and "just sounds like two people had an argument" and "self defence" etc... I'm not eloquent enough to explain why it bothers me so much.

I guarantee if that was a man who bit part of a lady's tongue off then those comments would be white knights and people trying to start fundraisers. That poor man. I hope he's doing all right, or as well as he can be.
