The issue with libel charges is that they take place in a civil court where accusations are proved based on "preponderance of evidence" (51% chance of being true) instead of "beyond a reasonable doubt" which is used in criminal courts. Theres literally an audio recording of her admitting to hitting him. The civil case merely dealt with whether or not he hit her. They didnt care if she hit him it wasnt part of the case.

The criminal lawsuit would be easier bc he is accusing her of assault and he has damning evidence of her assaulting him. The civil lawsuit was harder bc he accused the newspaper of defamation but the judge determined that there was a >51% chance that Depp abused Amber, therefore the newspaper, by the civil standard, was allowed to call him a wife beater.

Its not the same point. Its her assaulting him which he has evidence of in the criminal case and him assaulting her in the civil case which was based on probability

I am in the same jurisdiction as JD and AH. I've had cases involving the same courts and the same police department. Restraining orders were issued against many of my clients at the same court Amber Heard received hers against Johnny (Stanley Mosk Courthouse) and I can tell you, with the utmost of confidence, that even with the most damning evidence you can possibly have to show that you are the actual victim, no police department will take your report and no criminal charges will ever be filed against a female when a formal criminal complaint is initiated by a male victim.

Has it ever actually been tried? I dont doubt ur legal knowledge but I think part of the problem is that the women always go to the cops first. Like when siblings fight and whoever tells first gets believed. Plus Johnny Depp is a star he may have some supporters in the police force.

But Depp has money and influence, two things that the average male victim lacks. Worst case scenario they reject him and showcase just how misandric the industry is.
Ppl assume this is true but idk how true it really is. Its like how ppl believe rape victims always get a case when actually its not uncommon for them dismissed by the cops. Imo its worth a shot.

I'm aware of that but I think he has a better chance with a criminal case due to his audio recorded evidence. I dont think he has much of a chance with these civil lawsuits since the judge just needs to say that there was a 51% chance that he abused Amber in order to rule against him.
