Hello all, I’m a woman and wanted to say that I think the lack of empathy towards men and their problems is a huge part of the harmful aspects of our societal zeitgeist. Someone on Facebook posted about this subreddit and i wandered onto here just curious. I think it’s important to stay curious about each other so we can have a meeting of the minds instead of judgement. Women do have a lot of oppression that is systemic, meaning it’s within the policies of our government, work places and judicial system and not just the general attitude of the people around us. That said, i also do think women have certain privileges that men don’t and vice versa. For example, women are statistically more likely to gain custody of their children than men. That’s just a fact and many states still have archaic rules regarding this. Men aren’t “allowed” to express emotion which can lead to suppressed feelings and trauma, depression, and even violent behavior. I hope we can all realize the short comings of each gender and in between and work towards a better future where we strive to understand each other and have empathy for the very valid concerns and emotions each has. Some of the comments i see on here can get pretty misogynistic, but i feel its important to understand where there is anger there is also pain. I’m glad you guys have a place to come to and vent to eachother because that is healthy but i hope you recognize the pain within each other and within the angry statements and i hope you know that many women out there who say we want an equal future, also mean equal for men where they can share this pain out in the open and are able to better heal and connect with those around them. I hope you guys find that in your lives someday, truly. We’re all out here trying our best.

If a woman/girl in your life gets irritated or if you get irritated when hearing about feminism (whatever that means there’s so many different factions of it which don’t agree with each other whatsoever) just remember as humans, we are flawed and our initial reaction is to view a subject through our own lens of perception, bias, and inherent trauma. All our feelings are very real and they are very valid but remember some might be coming from a place of trauma, pain, or bias and may be skewed for that reason. That person irritated might be talking from a place of trauma, you getting angry and yelling might be talking from a place of trauma. It’s just good to be aware of. Idk this is some stuff that has helped me in all my relationships and has helped me have compassion even with people i disagree with, just wanted to share. Have a good day.
