I read this:

“This expulsion from the national territory is the consequence of unacceptable behaviour on the part of the family in August, notably beatings and the shaving of an adolescent girl who was in love with a young Serbian man of another religion,” the ministry said. It added that the girl, a minor, will be taken care of by social services and will obtain the right of residence in France when she reaches majority."

So the French are "keeping" their daughter? How the hell could that happen? Cutting her hair off is not quite "harming" her. It's a traditional custom. Jews circumcise their boys. That IS actual harm, and yet no one thinks the boy should be removed from his family?

I thank you for this, because my own mother has been saying that MGC is forbidden in france (probably because she doesn't know any better)for years and that's it's different from the US and I blindly thought it was right. I made some search about it and.. yeah, it turns out that ritual MGC is still fine and dandy in this country. Of course.

I just can't agree with the shaving their daughter thing. It's ABSOLUTE nonsense and it has no right to happen at all and this happening is one of the things that we should get rid of. But if MGC is still fine and dandy then it's absolutely stupid as a double standard.
