Look past the headline at the specifics of the case:

He's jailed because he has no assets to pay any fine (apart from his former family home they are fighting over)
She's left him for a Spanish footballer, so presumably is very wealthy and has no need of this home
In London "need" is how assets are determined. This is how they usually justify giving the entirety of the family home to the wife rather than the husband - because she has the kids and "needs" it more. Clearly this rule doesn't apply when the man "needs" the home more, or even just "needs" his share of the equity!
He's a property developer so presumably earned all the money to pay for the house. Her contribution is probably not much more than to be eye candy judging by the pictures in the article.

Fair enough he was obstructing the court, however I know from personal experience that these rules don't apply when the wife is doing the same thing. My ex-wife tried to pretend her pension was just an insurance policy and not worth anything - I pointed this out and the judge just said oh well, I'm sure it was an honest mistake.

London is the worse place for men for divorce. There are tons of these stories. Young men, old men, etc, etc. Canada ranks up there as nearly as bad.
