Let's face it, family courts are a fairly new thing. Humanity got along just fine without them for many millennia. So look back at history, and realize that people would start to slip back into something similar if the family courts were somehow banished forever.

I'd suggest reading a few of the entries by Jack London or Rider Haggard about London's east end for some actual boots on the ground with the common people insight into it. A few of them skirt on family dynamics. It's not all roses, though.

I had this thought last week. The state should have nthg to do with marriage; it should only register marriages, divorces & kids born. No other laws breaking the family equilibrium.
