Rape is a serious offense and it sucks a majority of rapists never get sent to prison.

I doubt that very much. However, I am 100% certain majority false accusers do not go to jail. And it's a lot more rampant than rape. And that's not even taking into account false accusation that occurs in divorce.

So I'm curious what kind of damage can a fake rape accusation do? Are jobs able to fire you even though you haven't been charged yet?

People commit suicide because of false accusation. You get ostracised. People whom you thought were friends, turn against you. You lose trust of the legal system when you realise that the CPS will not charge the false accuser because, it is not in the best interest of the public. You need to do it with your own money. And most of all you lose trust of others.

There was a boy who killed himself because a girl who didn't like him made a false accusation. Another young boy killed himself followed a year later by his mother. The accusers boyfriend was leaving her, so she made the false accusation. Both cases no one was prosecuted. Now go on the internet and insult someone of the protected group, and watch the police come knocking.

Your name will be everywhere in media
You will be fired from your job
Accused commits suicide
No other employer will hire you because of media defamation and/or active criminal charge
Police will keep you in jail until court grants you bail
Even if you are acquitted of all charges, your criminal history will disqualify you from getting jobs at companies which do criminal background verification

Can colleges expel you based on an accusation?

They are already doing it.

Whenever a chick starts to talk about her rape experience on social media there is always a few guys in the comments saying "we need evidence cause it could be false".

Because of MeToo, people are standing up and are no longer taking accusations seriously. Have you read the story The Boy Who Cried Wolf?

Honestly, your life will be ruined. Even if you will not be convicted, you’ll be expelled from your college/fired from your job, you’ll maybe become depressed, there’s a possibility of your relationship ending over these things. Generally, everything will be destroyed.
