Nissan. Totally. Woke. | Commentary on the recent "woke" Nissan ad.

They're at it again. Another "woke" ad.

I don't mind if some company wants to lose a tonne of money to the woke gods and goddesses, but this is too ridiculous to ignore.

My comments

The protagonist of the ad (female) is denied a promotion by her boss (male) and look who comes to the rescue! So, if your boss denies you a promotion or a raise, you have to protest and get what you want? I know appraisal meetings have a lot of back and forth and people disagree with their bosses all the time, but out in the open? Pretty unprofessional. Also, the celebrity in the commercial is a female, Nissan's Vice President of Marketing (or whatever) is female, the protagonist is female, but the person denying her the promotion has got to be male. Coz you know, female bosses never deny promotion to their subordinates. It's hikes and promotions every year... "No compromise".
"Drop the taco"? Is Smelly Cheese Larson appropriating Mexican culture? Is Nissan (A Japanese company) appropriating Mexican culture? Isn't dropping the taco a sign of disrespecting Mexican food/ culture?? I mean, I would finish the taco or save it for later. But throwing food away? When there are so many children without food? Nope.
"Attagirl!" So, if a woman says this to another woman, it's ok? It does sound matronising (if a woman does it, it's not patronizing anymore, no?). So, a woman who is denied a promotion needs Larson to give her an epiphany to realise her worth? This is womansplaining and misogynist to think that the woman couldn't speak for herself, without Larson's help.
Rear automatic braking... Is Nissan implying that women are bad drivers and that they need the cars to be smart enough to compensate for women's driving skills?
The Like-Dislike ratio of the original ad is fishy. The comments are turned off, but the Likes/ dislikes are unchanged for so long? I don't believe it. There's probably some backend manipulation going on.
There's another "behind the scenes" video for the ad... As if the ad isn't cringy enough.
Didn't Nissan learn anything at all from Holden motors? Aren't they already in a financial pickle, and they think this ad is gonna help? What happened to you, Nissan?

So when Wifey wanted a crossover we looked at the Nissan X-Trail.

It was a bloated pile of poop with the approach angle of a 747 on final and only 2WD. Obviously aimed at women, as no man who knows a damn thing about cars would want it. Even my wife hated it. Went with a Suburu XV, genuine AWD, great handling, incredible fuel efficiency and she recently told me she's "keeping it forever."

I'm not going to bother looking at the advert and inflicting woke shit upon myself, all I can say is "I'm glad you're going broke, you deserve it."

They've made some great cars in the past, but that was then.

Go woke, fuck off. That's what I say.
