I’m confused. Why do people get paid compensation payments? I mean I’m fairly certain the rapists themselves aren’t paying out compensation. Thus leaving it to who, the Government?

I have been raped. My rapist was jailed. That, to me, was compensation. Yes, it has taken years to deal with things emotionally, but money cannot fix what I went through, and others have gone through.

What DOES need to be fixed is the attitude many have to rape. Some people (mostly younger women from what I can tell) seem to think rape is something that you can use to threaten others with in order to control them. In other words “if you don’t do what I want you to I will say you raped me”. Others, especially (but not exclusively) men, get laughed at if they dare to admit that they have been raped. In fact many get accused of doing what they have fallen victim to!

In some places it was actually illegal to rape females but if a man was raped that was entirely legal! In New Zealand if there was a case of domestic violence the police were required to arrest the man. Even if it was the woman committing the violence. Even if there were children in the household. The excuse was that if the man was arrested he would be safe from the woman. I seriously hope that is no longer the case, but suspect it still goes on.

Actually, if any of those children were then raped by that lunatic woman then they would deserve compensation, because it WOULD be the fault of the powers that be that they were molested. Mostly, not because money can make a difference but because the government hates handing out money for anything and maybe the laws or general way things were handled would be addressed.
