Ive visited a friend at his university for the first time, and he has had to leave for a night due to a family emergency. I've been left with his friends (they seem cool but are still strangers), and they are taking me to a party tonight.

Any context specific advice on staying in control whilst in an unfamiliar place would be greatly appreciated. Ive lurked this board for a few months and i've made a lot of progress with my people skills but I still don't feel confident today.
