Hi guys! I just found this sub earlier.

I am a woman (hope that's cool!), and I had been looking for ways to get more involved in men's rights. Someone linked this sub to me, and I'm glad they did. Reading a good amount of these posts have been wild, there's definitely an undertone of bitterness here, but I can understand.

I just thought I would maybe share something positive and progressive here. I see a lot of you guys have given up and are just so angry that you can't see any hope. Don't. Change cannot and does not happen over night. It's always really slow. It can feel like the world is against you and that nothing will ever change. But it can. And it does! The most important thing is to put your fist in the air and demand the change.

And of course... To have powerful people on your side! I'm not the biggest fan of talk shows, but Ellen has used her platform for something really great here. Basically, for those not interested in the video, Ellen has brought on a boy (DeAndre Arlond) from Texas who has not been able to go to school for weeks because his hair is past his ears when down (which is the dress code for boys, it is unclear if there is any kind of dress code for girls. It appears there isn't). To combat this, he's been putting it up. But now, even when up, it comes down past his ears. The issue comes down to the fact that the girls in his school are allowed to have hair as long as they want, the "ear length" rule is just for boys. It's also an issue that he is not going to be allowed to walk at graduation, even though he is a top student and is not involved in drugs, fighting, or any other rebel activities. If he tries to go back to school, he will be placed in "in house suspension" while he is there, or they will ship him to another school with the problem kids.

Guys, I started crying watching this. Alicia Keys and Ellen teamed up to give this boy $20,000 to help him pay for Vet school (that is, if he can make it past the demons that work in his high school first). They haven't given up. Let's not either. If you are a parent in and around the school that the boy attends please call and voice your support for him. He needs all the help he can get!

tl;dr: A Texan boy wants long hair, and his school isn't letting him. They have kicked him out of school until he cuts it. Girls in his school are allowed to have their hair as long as they want. It's a double-standard. The boy is not a trouble maker, and gets really good grades. Ellen had the boy on the show and begged the school to take him back. Her and Alicia Keys gave him, $20,000 towards his college fund (he wants to be a Vet, and Vet school is long and also expensive). Change is happening around us every day. We can do this! If you are in the same area as this boy, consider calling the school to help him! Take care all <3

Edit: Gabrielle Union and Dwayne Wade have invited his boy to the Oscars! Very cool, and I'm hoping this boy's school is quaking in their boots right about now. :)
