I saw this on the news but it only said 'an Elmo impersonator is arrested by police yada yada yada'

Nothing about his political views

You’ll see him on tv tonight at his election count. Think he’s standing against Boris.

[–]Lethn 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link

I seriously hope Labour loses a shit ton more seats than is being predicted tonight.

Boris winning means Britian dies. There is a time and place for this fight, but now is not the time. Hate Corbyn all you want, but Boris needs to lose to stop Brixit.

lol no, the fear mongering over Brexit has been ridiculous, you're going to look really bad if Britain does okay after leaving the EU.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

It's already started with a big jump in the value of the pound.

[–]Lethn 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hahahah :D I was watching the election results until around 5:00am last night, I am in such a good mood right now, my country rejected Communism big time.

That is wishful thinking on your party. It's like those who think they will get a fair trade deal from Trump, a man who smells and exploits weakness in those who do business with him.

[–]Lethn 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

yeah yeah, you're just on the Trump and Boris hate bandwagon like most lefties.

[–]omegaphallic -4 points-3 points-2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm not big on rightwing governments, but for once this isn't about right vs left, Boris is far more dangerous to GB then Trump is to America, America is survive Trump, but GB won't survive a Boris majority government.

[–]ausgamer529 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I hope he wins

[–]omegaphallic -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Britians future lost tonight, Britian is fucked.

[–]ausgamer529 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yesssssssssss -plays sweet victory -

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Your victory is the defeat of your own future. But that is your fucking problem, not mine, and my country is in one piece and will remain that way as GB falls apart. Canada will now be the leading Commonwealth nation, the nation that the world looks to. Even if our PM is a quasi feninust black face wearing idiot, at least he isn't Boris the buffoon who will preside over the death of Britian.

Enjoy this moment, you will enjoy few such moments in the future.

Okay Britbong

Even withouth a trade deal and even with a hard brexit, it would never turn out to a catastrophic civil war or collapse. Most people did not vote to make economical gain but because they felt their destiny has been taken from them. Economical reasons are just a rationalisation.

[–]omegaphallic -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

No not a civil war, nothing so flashy or quick, just a continuing decline as Scotland and other regions that would rather be apart of the EU then a fallen GB seperate. You brought the ruination of GB on yourself. R.I.P Great Britian, you will be missed.

On the bright side your slow, painful destruction, can and will be used by Canadian federalists like me as a weapon against your own seperatism movement.

[–]mikesteane 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The EU may not accept these countries. They have been a drain on England and they will be a drain on the EU. Note that England did not colonise Scotland, Scotland colonised England.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

They will except them for no other reason then to piss England off. Divorce is a bitch.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

However, from England's point of view, this is more like an annulment of a marriage that was never agreed to. We voted to go on a date in 1975 (retrospectively) and found ourselves tied into agreements we never voted on.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well the annulment could have been handled alot better. But really it's not my problem, the consquences are your to deal with. Canada my country is largely unaffected. The US and Asia are far more important Trade partners now.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well the annulment could have been handled alot better

Almost everyone agrees with you, but I think time will tell. It may be that the period of uncertainty and delay may turn out to have been exactly what the country needed to organise itself. And now that the government has a clear mandate, they can get good deals unhampered by opponents tying their hands at the negotiating table. In order to get even a fair deal, the option of simply walking away must always be there. Now it is.

And finally we are seeing the EU in its true colours with M. Barnier saying that a deal cannot be negotiated in the time frame. Which shows that the two year period specified by article 50 was too short, and everything would suggest that this was done on purpose to cause problems for nations wishing to leave.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

There is no organization, no plan, no clue, and I'd argue no mandate, it's only warped disguisting First Past the Post that makes it appear like it does. If Britian had mixed member proportional representation, parties that supported a second referendum would have won more seats then Leave Parties, but because remain voters were more divided between parties then Leave voters, Boris won. It's time to end First Past the Post elections Globally, they are a threat to Democracy. I include my own country in that. I have opposed FPTP here in Canada before I could vote. MMPR or GTFO.

[–]mikesteane 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

He won by a substantial amount and the immediate result is that the pound has risen significantly. Brexit will be done and Britain will benefit enormously from it. This has already started.

[–]omegaphallic 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It won't last, it's idiot investors thinking with their right-wing ideology.
