Police routinely arrest men for hitting back in defence. As much as hitting back is the feminist ideal of equality, it isn't smart.

To give context, I was arrested when a woman swung at me, because I blocked it. The act of blocking her swing, injured her wrist. Didn't matter that she initiated it. Took close to two years to get it legally sorted out, and it still shows up on background checks.

As I'm sure you've already heard from others, your mom is for the most part right. Unless you have physical evidence that you did it in self defense (aka video evidence or lots of witnesses) chances are you'll be the one facing trouble. Be it legally or socially.

My advice, either A) fight back when you know you have proof it was self defense or B) immediately after you get hit call the police and report said person for battery and assault.

If the legal system won't defend you when your innocent at least use it to punish those who aren't.

So basically there was a situation with my female friend. We had a little argument, she slapped me, I slapped her back and things got wild. I left with scratches over my face and neck. Nail Tips are great, aren't they? Anyway, I came home and my mom immediately started questioning me, so I told her everything that happened and she got mad at me. In her opinion "You're not allowed to hit a girl, no matter the circumstances". I tried to tell her, that she's wrong, but she doesn't take "no" for an answer. Fucking Peachy

I've been listening to Bill Burr comedy routines for the past week. If a guy connects with a good punch to a guy, he backs off to see what's going to happen next. Women just punch and stand there because they know nothing is going to happen.

I say, don't punch, call the cops. We need a much higher percentage of women going to jail for assault.

As I grew up, we guys beat the shit out of each other and then went on with our lives. Usually, we stayed friends and did things together. BAM BAM BAM "Let's get some pizza?" "Sure, just let me get something for my bloody nose."

Women were off limits and they still are. Yet when a woman wants to join in on the "beat the shit out of guys" game, she wants to pull out her PP card so we don't hit back? No. But don't hit back, call the cops. Press charges. Create a permanent arrest record.

If hitting a woman back is going to ruin a guy's life, I say don't hit back and ruin hers instead.

I've taken some shit from women. I've been hit pretty hard. I can take it. I've had some pretty good slaps and scratches over the years. I likely deserved most of that shit, so I took it like a man. But, honestly, in the cases where I took some hits because the woman ran out of things to say in an argument which was her fault to begin with? I should have called the cops.
