Crosspost "The man at the tram stop who didn’t have a destination..." from /r/creepyencounters:

This happened when I was 15 while I was waiting at my usual tram stop (I suggest taking a shot every time I write tram in this story).

I was living in The Netherlands at the time, and for context at most tram stops there are two sides, each with trams going in opposite directions, so you end up sitting across from people waiting on the other side of the platform. This tram stop in particular only had one number tram that stopped there, so if you were waiting at that stop you were taking that specific number in that specific direction.

Anyways, onto the actual story. I arrived at the tram stop, and since I was the only one waiting, I sat down. I was sitting there on my phone for a good 5 minutes, but the whole time I felt super uneasy like someone was watching me. Finally, I looked up and saw a man, in his 40s, sitting across from me on the other side of the platform. Bare in mind this was all happening in broad daylight which somehow made it creepier. When I looked at him he just stared me in the eyes, making no attempt to hide that he was looking at me that whole time. I looked back down at my phone, but I could still feel him watching me.

After another few minutes of this, my tram was still 5 minutes away, so I decided to look at when his tram was coming on the monitor. It said 2 minutes, and I assumed he would take it because it was the only tram coming, so I just went back to staring at my phone, hoping for the best.

His tram finally comes and I breathed a sigh of relief. It then pulls away, and he’s still sitting there, staring me straight in the eyes. Safe to say I was pretty freaked at this point, but I just kept waiting for my tram. It finally comes and I make sure to walk down a couple carriages just so he doesn’t see where I get on, because I knew there was a tram stop just next to this one that he could walk to and get on my tram. When I got inside I looked through the window as I sat down to check he hasn’t seen me. Be now you’re probably noticing a pattern, so yep, there he was staring me directly in the eyes with the most dead, blank gaze I had ever seen. As the tram pulled away he turned his head and followed it as it turned the corner, still staring me in the eyes, and smiled the biggest creepiest smile. He then got up and left the tram stop without ever getting on one.

I still to this day have no idea what he was trying to achieve scaring a 15 year old girl like that but I can still to this day say it’s one of the stringiest/creepiest encounters I’ve ever had.
