Not all instances of gender inequality are equally concerning. An emphasis on women's underrepresentation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math roles (STEM) has not been matched by a similar concern about men's underrepresentation in Healthcare, Early Education, and Domestic roles (HEED).

Wow, some good news for a change. While reading the headline I expected it to read that she got 80% or some shit lol.

Oh man, #MeToo.

[–]jacksleepshere 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

How do you do that without it making it bold?

The money he was awarded belongs to him and not a cent of it should go to her.

Having said that, she is perfectly within her rights to sue the state for money. They took her husband away from her, the father of her child, and it wasn't until 10 years after his arrest that she divorced him.

She is owed some compensation from the state as well.
Likewise, his child, who grew up without a father, is also owed compensation from the state.

But her suing him instead of the state, that is fucking disgusting. She should be ashamed of herself for that.

[–][deleted] 30 points31 points32 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

The kid, yeah. But her, she abandoned him and then tried to take money from him. She shouldn't get anything.

[–][deleted] 26 points27 points28 points 6 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Her too.

It's easy to judge from the outside. You say "she abandoned him," but he was arrested in 82 and they didn't get divorced until 1992. That means she stuck by him in some capacity for the better part of a decade.

And she still had a husband who was wrongfully taken from her, and she then had to raise a child by herself. I don't know what happened, but she might have remarried to make sure she could provide for the child. You can judge her and say "she abandoned him" all you want, but she was in an extremely difficult situation.

She is certainly deplorably wrong for suing him, but she is justified to sue the state.

She did have her life turned upside down by the state, even if his life was turned upside down in a significantly worse way.

Yes, she isn't as bad as someof the others that we see every day. I expected to read that he went to jail in a false rape charge from her or something.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One doesn't get entitled to bully others for having a hard time, I agree that the state is responsible, but she's still not a nice person for suing her husband instead of the state. We don't know the full details though, so of course it's a biased view of mine

Nah she didn't care about his role, she just wanted the money. Kinda like that family that sued a city over cops killing their kid, got millions of dollars, didn't spend a cent on his tomb stone.

"This is the Hydralic press channeling featuring the press, and a POS."

"Son, I always loved you! Don't kill mommy!"

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

she didn't care about his role

Did you speak with her?

[–]Enrichmentx 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Yes, because a tomb stone shows how much you loved someone...

[+]ringrawer1 points 6 years ago [recovered] (8 children) | Copy Link

Never ended up purchasing a tomb stone but were willing to run off with millions. Sounds like the kid was more valuable dead than alive to the family.

[–]lasciate -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

The kid doesn't care about a tombstone. Why should they?

[–]TheGreatConst 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

If someone really important to you died then YOU will care about tombstone.

[+]ringrawer1 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

Especially when you sue the government for millions.

[–]lasciate -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why especially then?

Am I required to act a certain way to receive just recompense from the government? Am I a government slave?

[–]lasciate 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

If someone really important to you died then YOU

...will have their ashes on the mantle rather than burying them in the cold earth miles from you and never visiting their remains.

See how retarded it is to police other people's grief?

[–]TheGreatConst -1 points0 points1 point 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You just pointed out cultural differences which weren't my point at all.

[+]ringrawer1 points 6 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

I guess they didn't deserve the millions.

[–]lasciate 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What does that have to do with what I said?

[–]SirYouAreIncorrect 18 points19 points20 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

From 2014, and it looks like the Texas Supreme Court Denied an appeal so the Appeals court ruling stands...

Sad that is even made past the first court, Good news is the Judged that ruled the ex should get part of the money does not appear to be a Judge anymore, leaving the family court the same year this decision came out so hopefully she has less of a change to ruin other men's lives

[–]Deja_Siku 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Phillips was exonerated of the sexual assaults that put him behind bars in 2008, when DNA testing cleared his name. Two years later Tucker sued Phillips for a portion of the state’s compensation, insisting she had a right to the lost wages.

Wow. Homebody is the one who spends two and a half decades in prison for something he didn't commit, while his bitch wife divorced him during that time, and then all of a sudden she is entitled to a big chunk of that cash? Fuck her. As far as I'm concerned, he earned it by giving away 25 years of his life. Fuck off bitch.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

She should have realized with that 6M dollar payout that the state was admitting guilt, and should have simpliy filed suit for compensation for her pain and suffering, and the pain and suffering of their shared childred (if any), citing her ex-husband's case as precedent.

But, instead, she was a raging bitch and tried to take some of her ex-husband's due compensation for being jailed.

[–]pn1159 21 points22 points23 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yes, but you don't know how much she suffered while her husband and then ex-husband was in prison. I mean she really, really suffered and she is a women. lol

[–]BittyMitty 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

She divorces him while he is in prison.
And after he gets compensation for the wrongful conviction, she sues for money.
Golddiggers are garbage.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

10 years after he went to prison.

[–]EndlessPatriotism 5 points6 points7 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Had me in the first half, not gonna lie. I was about to be fuming. I hope she had to pay his fees and go to jail.

[–]thwip62 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

6 million? For 24 years? That basically just amounts to a well-paying job where he couldn't ever leave the office. Fuck that, he should have gotten more.

[–]SquattermalianGibzme[🍰] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

only 2M up front, 11k/mo for life

[–]thwip62 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That's a fucking joke. If I were him, I'd feel insulted that they deem my humiliation, lost time and character-tainting to be worth just that.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I guess he's entitled to an additional moral compensation, shall the court decide so, from her being a divorce shark at this situation

[–]NerdGuyLol 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Thank god. It's nice to see some good news here on this subreddit

[–]Akesgeroth 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What a piece of shit.

[–]IronJohnMRA 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Good.

[–]Luchadorgreen 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

My heart stopped until that last sentence in the title. Thank god.
