Can only talk about my own experience. I got a vasectomy, after a long hard time of getting a doctor to do it without a wife's consent. A few years later, my last LTR was all about how she forgot to take her pill, whoops. I knocked her up. I said I needed some time to process this, went to my doctor and got tested. I was 99.6% not a father at that point, I told her to find the real baby daddy, and hope he could support her and her kid like I could and left the country. No idea what happened to her after that, I cut off all contact. Either she was fuckin another dude and got knocked up, or was lieing about getting knocked up in hopes I would stop using rubbers, not my problem.

I do not have those numbers, but I would bet they are quite high.

The reason I think they must be quite high is because women certainly seem to believe that the strategy of 'accidentally getting pregnant' or pretending to be pregnant is an effective one.

Women talk to each other quite a bit, sharing the most intimate details of their lives, if it were the case that this kind of thing didn't work, I would expect women to be aware of that. If it were the case that there was some more effective method of getting a man to propose, I would expect women to be aware of that.

Given that there is a thriving market for positive home pregnancy tests and 'baby bumps' to make a girl look pregnant, many reports of women poking holes in condoms or 'forgetting' to take their birth control, I feel it is pretty clear that this is a common and time proven strategy.

I am going to add in, what might be , an unpopular opinion.

I think we need to have better sex ed, or programs for young men so they can avoid this kind of mistake and manipulation. By this I mean teach them how to read if a girl is manipulating them into marriage. I have seen this happen to one too many friends, and then the worst after the fact.
