We know Reyes would rape 5 women and kill 1. We also know he wasn't caught after at least 4 of those rapes. What we don't know is whether he would have been caught before raping those women had the wrong 5 guys not been prosecuted for the Meili rape. The failure to the female victims was potential. The injustice committed against the wrongfully convicted men is unquestionable.
You also can't argue that curbing the excesses of prosecutors is a feminist goal when feminists push for changes in the law to weaken protections that defendants are entitled to specifically in rape cases. Maybe in other cases the fight prosecutorial excess, but not in rape cases, they make it possible.
