It's a good result. I'm glad the court decided the way it did.

But it's also the kind of "men's rights" that feminists find it easy to be in favour of, because it benefits women and fits the feminist agenda. Other things that fit into this mould are, for instance, men not being stigmatised for staying at home, men not being stigmatised for showing emotion and so on.

And that's all good too. The stigmatisation of men for being sex atypical in how they presented themselves or how they chose to live was always shit. It's high time everyone was free to live in the way that makes them happy.

But what about rights for men and boys that feminists don't find comfortable. For instance, to take just a few examples:

  • The right to be educated without being discriminated against or marked down.
  • The right to be a sex-typical man without being pathologised or labelled as toxic.
  • The right not to be discriminated against in hiring and promotion.
  • The right to have healthcare that is equally well funded in comparison to women's healthcare.
  • The right to a fair trial and the presumption of innocence.
  • The right to equal parenting.

When the courts and the media admit that men and boys have these rights, that these rights are being infringed, and that something needs to be done, then I'll think we're at the start of something.

Until then, we have to be honest with ourselves that men's rights are only acknowledged when to do so assists in the achievement of a feminist goal. Or at least when feminists think it will.

That's not equality.

But it's also the kind of "men's rights" that feminists find it easy to be in favour of, because it benefits women and fits the feminist agenda.

Only insofar as it allows women to earn more if the father is taking care of the child.

Other things that fit into this mould are, for instance, men not being stigmatised for staying at home, men not being stigmatised for showing emotion and so on.

Some few feminism may say words that sound like the above, but if a man does either they will do the exact opposite.
