Currently a sophomore pledging a fraternity at a Greek heavy college (all hb5 and above are in sororities)

Reasons to drop my current fraternity:

  • No top 5 sororities (aka no hot girls hb8+) and the girls that do come (average girls), come in little numbers (7-12 girls for a house with atleast 30 guys that come to the pregames). The social aspect completely sucks. Like the saying goes: top 20% guys fuck 80% of girls. The top 5 fraternities also have tons of girls (a lot from top sororities) that come uninvited to the house just to hang out; this never happens to my current fraternity.

  • I only actually like 2-3 of the brothers in the house who I know pull girls and I know i can hangout with on a daily basis. I will have to pay money to be a part of a house where I only like 2-3 guys (1,500 a year).

  • I only joined the house because all of my friends joined. I had zero intentions of joining if it was not for them. I always had my sights on the top fraternities

  • Also because of pledgeship (cleaning and hazing), my grades are the worst they have been all my college career.

  • My entire pledge class are all lower SMV than me and dont pull girls (but brag that they do)

  • I was not in a fraternity for a whole year and a half and I did pretty well with pulling attractive girls (a majority of them in top sororities) and passed shit tests about me not being in a fraternity pretty well. Averaged a new girl every month.

Reasons to stay:

  • My entire pledge class are all my friends (3 guys that I am really close with and the other 6 are alright). I have trouble making new friends in short period of time (If i was to join another house next semester, I would have to go deal with this again). It takes me a while to open myself up to people and connect with them (im really sarcastic).

  • Im going to be a junior next semester and that is pretty late considering Im going to be rushing Top 5 houses where they are mainly looking at freshman (Although i do have friends that rushed top 5 houses and gotten bids before as juniors). However, I also have tons of connections in these houses that can vouch for me.

  • The Fraternity has great amount of bar pull. At the number 1 most popular bar at my school, I dont have to pay cover to get in (Its usually $5 just to get in and I go to this bar around 3-4 times a week, so it adds up).

  • There are around 40 fraternities at my school. My fraternity is top 6. There are only like 20 sororities. That means 20 fraternities below us in popularity would kill to have any sorority come to them. They have no social at all.

  • Pulling girls is much easier when in a fraternity. I guess freshmen girls love frat guys and these girls are much more interested in you.

Right now, I really dont want to be a part of this fraternity but there is a slight feeling that in a few months i might have some regret, especially if I dont join a house my junior year. But then again, if i do end up joining my current fraternity, I will always be wondering "what if i tried to join a top 5 fraternity and how my life would be" for the rest of my college career. Also, if i do drop, I can spend all this free time to improve my SMV (working out, improving my personality through books and going out, etc). What do you guys think? It can be as simple as saying: drop or dont drop.
