well, if you can't deal with it, just stick your fingers in your ears and repeat over and over 'women can not lie, believe all women' this is how feminism happens.

i'm going to edit here because i really shouldn't be so flippant.

so just let me say, lying is important. lying is a major feature of human cognition, lying to ourselves and others is part of what make 'thinking' different from 'calculating'.

In computer code, you can not lie.

you can test whether a thing is true

IF x then. .. .

or

IF statement = true then. .. .

but if you try to lie, to say something that should be false, what happens is assignment

statement = true

will have the effect of assigning the value true to statement, saying a thing makes it true.

so we all know what lying is, we can all do it, but to my knowledge no one has yet produced a sufficient definition of the thing so as to allow the utility of lying in code. It's part of the magic of consciousness, probably.
