Clearly this post will have movie spoilers, so proceed at your own caution.

!I find it very disappointing the way Endgame treated men in comparison to women. First off, the whole “staring at Captain America’s ass” sequence implies all the male superheroes have a thing for each other, which makes all the tweenage fanfic writers wet themselves with excitement. But how would fans feel if Antman said Black Widow’s ass was “America’s ass”? Or Captain Marvel’s? Or any other female superhero? Obviously it would cause uproar as an act of blatant sexism and objectification. Additionally, fat depressed alcoholic Thor is used as a constant source of humor. Is it really a good idea to make fun of mental illness and addiction? And what if a female superhero felt down about their failure and similarly let herself go? Black Widow, for instance, blames herself. If she got fat and addicted to alcohol, fans would decry this as sexism, portraying women as weak, emotional, etc. Also, the scene where all the female superheroes - including side characters The Wasp, Pepper/“Iron Woman” and Shuri - team up to kick ass. Why is this needed? Doesn’t this just separate the female from male superheroes, indicating they are not equal? You’re telling me not a single male superhero helped, or that not a single female superhero was busy helping somewhere else? There are virtually no all-male superhero scenes in the entire MCU unless there are only 2-3 of them. This seemed like lazy pandering to me.!<

These are just my thoughts on the movie’s treatment of men compared to women. I’m sure there are more examples as well. I just wish we didn’t use objectification of men as an apparently “okay” method to make up for prior decades’ objectification of women. Neither is okay.
