Inb4 "you shouldn't preach, you should let him do what he's gonna do"
I was gonna do that but I love him and want what's best for him so I'm gonna man up and give him the hard talk.
They have all the cards stacked against them.

They're very young: He's 18. She's 17. The younger you are the higher the divorce rate

He just committed to the navy for 8 years. He's gonna be gone a lot, she's gonna be alone, and you know how that goes.
She's pregnant with his child.
And he had already proposed to her. It's on social media and everything
I know he shouldn't have signed his rights away to the navy and I should've talked to him out of it but it's too late for that now.
If I can make him aware of the stupidity of legal marriage, I could save him years of pain and struggle.
So that's the backstory.
But my question is - how can he back out of the proposal gracefully because he still wants to be with the girl and they have a baby on the way? How should I suggest he frame it for her? (e.g. "I love you but I think it's better we don't get married [yet?] because xyz..." Or should I suggest he do a ceremonial but not legal marriage (like I plan to do if I ever get married)? However I have no idea if that would work for him considering he's in the navy and will be going to different states
Thanks so much,
Your fellow redpiller,
C
Edit: also I'm pretty sure there is some financial incentive for servicemen to get legally married, but of course that won't help him if they get divorced
