I find it very disturbing that you experienced such harsh criticism from those subs on this subject. Those are supposed to be safe spaces to discuss the exact subject matter you addressed and to get such judgemental backlash for using a completely legitimate term) is very unfortunate.

I'm sorry that happened to you and I'm even more sorry that those communities have apparently become so unfriendly to people just trying to explore their sexuality.

But yes, the term "alpha" is based in scientific fact and is defined as "In studies of social animals, the highest ranking individual is sometimes designated as the alpha." Humanity is very much a social animal and there exist dominant personalities in both male and female gender roles which can be identified as alpha. The bonkers logic they are using to dismiss the existence of such a basic scientific concept is truly impressive.

Seems to be the exact same logic they are using to reason that toxic femininity is apparently just a construct of generations of male oppression or that your question is not very much a core concept of BDSM and the entire Dom/sub kink.

I think "alpha males" don't literally exist in humans.

When people say "alpha males", they aren't meaning it literally as much as figuratively, though, and some men are more dominant and agressive.

It's really weird that BDSM people would get offended at a word. Especially a word that means "dominant and agressive". You'd expect that, at most, they'd dislike playing with that particular offensive word personally, but be non-judgmental towards people who do.

I think it's ironically largely thanks to feminists that these stereotypes even exist. Since they have gone out of their way to quite literally feminise men and turn them into total doormats incapable of standing up for themselves this is how these terms have even come about.

I think the whole alpha/beta thing is pretty simplistic but it does a good job of explaining these stereotypes. The only people who get really uppity about it are feminists themselves and male feminists especially who absolutely fit the mould of the beta male that everybody makes fun of which is why they hate it.

There are plenty of men who don't fit these stereotypes but it's incredibly easy to see how they came about. For example I'm more than willing to mock men who act like literal cuckolds ( a.k.a. the beta male stereotype ) and it's not just because of the way they allow themselves to be treated but they go out of their way even on lefty news sites to try and convince themselves and other young men that sort of thing is healthy for them even if they're miserable.

On another note, I could think of nothing worse than going to a dating/BDSM community and being at the mercy of fucking SJWs and I'm somebody who quite likes aggressive/dominant women. Nice work by the way on calling out their bullshit with toxic masculinity and alpha males are absolutely a thing in wolf packs fuck me that conversation must have been frustrating.

First, the term "toxic masculinity" is not based in science, but ideology. it was coined, circa 1990, buy a guy named, Shepard Bliss during the iron john movement of the 90s where, under the direction of weird named guys, men would run around in the woods trying to find their lost testicles.

Even then it was describes as societies manipulation of our genetic disposition to serve the greater good, sacrifice, and protect. As I've stated in the past, the Vietnam war is a fine example where men were sent to a meaningless war predicated not on victory, but a score card of body count (think about that for a second), a never ending war of attrition...and then upon returning, those that survived, were blamed and shamed into silence until that day they exploded and hit anyone in vicinity.

Now, the alpha is a proven scientific fact, by actual scientist who have spent years studying it...but it too is not what many say it is. I know this because (and it pains me to say this because it is so often claimed), I am one. I've been thrust into leadership positions every-time if interacted in any hierarchy situation, including my time in the marine corps, where I blew through promotions...and not by choice, not even by desire.

I also understand what that means. it is not about power, but responsibility, which often, in the human world, can be taxing. I'm not a "tough guy", I'm just a run of the mill leader, who's strongest tenat is humility (see Capt Winters, band of brothers docu-series).

I'm not going to pontificate about something I do not know about, but perhaps that immense pressure that the alpha feels might be the reason he may seek submission in the bedroom. I know the most submissive women I've ever been with were all high level performers in the real world, and I know there are days when I feel like my head is going to explode and just want to do nothing (and no, I have no desire to be submissive in bed. I'm a doer). I can also imagine how difficult a challenge it is for an alpha to submit, especially in that situation where it is so intimate, so I can understand your basis for such theory.

People are people, they are quick to react, slow to think, and they get offended so easily, especially in that community. Some of the most sub women are like hellcats out of bed...and on those type of forums.

Don't let that get you down. Just by the sound of it your thesis is seems to be pretty sound. Can't help what others say or feel, and keep in mind that for every individual scratching their insecurity at you, there is another silently nodding in agreement. Up votes get the win. I'll be there were more than not.

Women hate the term alpha male because it cuts the mystery from their sexuality. When sensitive, kind, and otherwise "beta" men stop thinking those traits attract women, they'll stop funding women and playing ATM for them.

There really isn't any more depth than that. Unlike men, women will do anything to defend their gender, and have the basic hive of ingroup bias
