I'm curious though, are you more concerned about the life of the falsely accused or the victim?
I've been a victim of many, many traumatic things including child abuse, physical, sexual and mental. The good news is that you CAN move on from those eventually. You can't move on from a false accusation because no matter how well people know you their true perception is never "I KNOW you didn't do it" it's "I don't know, I don't think you did it but everyone is capable of lying". So you're guilty forever FOR NO REASON.
Imagine people wondering whether you did or didn't do something and having no way to prove you didn't because it's literally impossible to prove a negative.
