Depends on what we're talking about. MGTOW as in /r/mgtow was an absolute cesspit last I looked. That's no more MGTOW than /r/TheRedPill was.

I'm one of those dudes who learned the term long after he started living the dream, as it were. Saw the nonsense, noped the fuck out and started doing my own thing, realized how awesome it was and have been doing it ever since. So for me, MGTOW as a philosophy was/is pretty enlightening. It changed my life and gave me the freedom I didn't realize I was craving for all those years.

It's not for everyone, but I think all men should at least take a couple years and learn how to appreciate being alone. I think it more men did that they'd make far fewer life destroying decisions.

It's a viable risk minimization strategy, valuable in the short term The trouble with that is, it's not enough. The source of the problem has to be identified, and then a strategy evolved to fix it.

As for the mgtow subreddit, I agree with a lot of what's said there about how to avoid the hidden pitfalls of modern society. There's a strain, or maybe a stain, running though it that I don't like though. For example, those dire warnings to women about hitting the wall, cats etc. Quite true; but what good does it do? Seems to me like it's designed to make yourself feel better because they will shortly be having it worse, but it doesn't make your position actually any better. But because you feel better, action stops at that point; nothing happens.

I know that the core differences is that you are actively trying to make a change to a gynocentric system that is out of balance. And mgtow men basically just say "ah fuck it" and do what they want in life and eschew any relationships with women.

I have seen people cover both bases at once, where they are going MGTOW as an act of protest in order to draw more attention to men's rights issues. Their theory is usually that in a gynocentric society, if the number of men going MGTOW is increasing, then that forces men's issues to become women's issues as well, thus ensuring that they will actually get fixed. Or maybe a better way of looking at it is that since a relationship is a mutual agreement between two people, the idea here would be "I am not going to enter into a relationship until society's rules change in such a way that I feel the terms of the agreement are no longer unfair to me."

I am not MGTOW myself, so I'm not sure if you're looking for my opinion or not, but here is what I think:

I 100% respect the right of a person to choose whether or not to enter into relationships, so I have no reason to oppose the right of MGTOW to exist. Also, even though it makes me very sad to see that things have come to this, I feel that those who choose to go MGTOW have very legitimate concerns when it comes to the risks involved in starting a relationship as a man nowadays. All of that being said though, I do not personally feel that things are bad enough that I would consider going MGTOW. If someone asked for my advice on whether or not they should (not that I am the best person to ask though since I haven't read up on the issue nearly as much as others on here), I would recommend against going MGTOW since I can't imagine giving up the opportunity to fall in love with someone.
