Great piece. It should also be said (unless I missed it) that when it was finally discovered that the rape claim was false, the police refused to change the case to one of false accusation, so that this is yet another false accusation that is not recorded in the records as such.

Can someone explain this to me:

There are about 100,000 actual convictions of rape every year in the US alone.

If you want to raise awareness, all you have to do is to pick examples from there. Although there are false convictions, you would be on firm legal and moral ground in doing so.

Yet why in the world do some advocates refer to cases where guilt has not been proven, let alone ones involving probably false accusations? Or for that matter cases involving, say, gauche come-ons?

I don't get it. It makes no sense...
