I'm getting accused of stalking a girl I never even knew existed. I don't know what to do.

This is on a college campus in the U.S.. The girl reported that she sees me too much, and apparently that was enough to take action on me. I only know her name, because the letter that was sent to my door said to not talk to the person. The insane part is that I live on campus, I study on campus, go to class on campus, eat every day on campus, and even work 20 hours a week on campus. Most people know me on campus because of the way I dress and my positive attitude. I am a 19 year old male on a female dominated campus with only a few thousand people, in an isolated town.

Should I be worried, if I haven't done anything wrong? How can I protect myself against a false accusation?

I have no reason to believe she has malicious intent.

To be fair to my accuser, we go to a university in Alaska. Alaska has very high crime rates compared to other parts in the U.S.. As a tall male from a very safe town, It is probably harder for me to understand how this girl truly feels.

I have had a letter slipped under my door, and voicemails on my phone. I have asked how I can help clear up this situation, but the only response the residence life staff have told me was a very firm "remove yourself from the area, if you see this girl."

The worst part is I don't even know who this girl is, or who I should be looking out for.

I'm really scared, surprised, and confused how I could end up in this situation.

EDIT: Thank you everyone for your response. Even though I study far away form home, I have a very good safety net of people who know, love, and support me where I go to school. I told my parents everything and they know who I am and are extremely supportive as well. They are helping me get a lawyer. It is really reassuring to know that I have support online because this situation feels so isolating.

I am trying to keep up with my school work and my job. Even though they have both already been negatively impacted, I will try to keep that negative impact to a minimum.
