When I see shit like this I always hope they're just fake stories to stir up drama. But alas they're not, and I can only hope that shit like this never happens in the UK, or to such an extreme level that is. Though mind you I've already had someone accuse me, just because he wanted to distract from having to owe some money back. He was probably told to fuck off because he couldn't back anything up (he was making it up because he wanted to distract from having to pay me back some money) and the person he accused me of assaulting wasn't so much of a dick that she'd agree to lying on such an extreme level. But of course I'll never know.

Having been through it myself I believe many of these posts. And I've always been fair to women and don't believe in ever hitting a woman, and I believe that's why I was a victim. She didn't think anything would happen. Luckily I was innocent and my ex dropped all charges, but I still spent 600 and spent a night in jail.

I feel like we are being played against each other. This man's story is tragic and is a perfect example of how middle- and working-class men get railroaded by police and prosecutors on a regular basis. Notice that the people here who made his life hell aren't women exclusively: it is a woman (accuser) and a man (prosecutor). And he excuses the man's behavior by saying he is afraid of women. No... he wants convictions rates. Period. It's man vs. man and man vs. woman.
I have been twice fasley accused or wrong doing: once in the public sphere when a co-worker decided to emeblish a story for the sake of gossip; another time by an ex-gf who lied to police about me. What I can assure you is that the difference between middle- and working-class men and guys like Trump and Kavanaugh, is that we don't have the money to throw at the legal issues. I was lucky: spend an afternoon at a police station, show up to court a few times over the course of several months, and be done with it. Not everybody is so lucky.
If this guy had lots of money, there is no way a false allegation would stick or that he would spend 30 days in jail. He'd have a lawyer laugh his/her way into the court room and get this tossed (though the accuser likely would not be held accountable). But that doens't work for middle- and working-class men.
Trump uses this issue to political ends. He realizes that this is an issue for men who may be inclined to vote for him, so he brings up this argument about women having too much power. No. Prosecutor have too much power, and the judicial system is easy on wealthy people. But Trump knows full well that he and other affluent ment are immune to this. And why? Because they have money. Some Dupont heir literally rapes his daughter (a toddle) and he gets no prison; a Black teen is falsey accused of rape and prosecutors threaten to over prosecute the case on limited evidence and pressure him into a plea by putting a time limit on the plea deal: take or serve 50 years. He serves years and when the truth comes out, his accuser has to pay THE SCHOOL she attended: not him.
Trump turns this into a 'women have too much power' argument. That isn't the problem. Obviously. Trump was accused by over 20 women and still secured the presdency (all while he was happy to trot out Bill Clinton's accusers and empower their claims when it suited him). Kavanaugh? Accused by four women: still confirmed. This is not a problem for rich men, and Turmp feigning that it is for political support is disgutings.
If he cared about false allegations, he wouldn't have trotted out Clinton's accusers to suit his needs. And if he cared about men being railroaded by the system, he'd be advocating for a judicial system that was equitable for ALL Americans regardless of wealth/class. But he thinks poor people deserve whatever problems they have.
But Trump loves his privelege and seek to maintain it. Instead, he turns this into a women vs. men thing, and when this guy gets rail roaded by a system becaue he isn't rich, what is his response? Complain that he doens't want to hear about women's rights.
Women are being victimized; men are being victimized. When people come forwad, regardless of gender, we should hear them out and consider the evidence. We have daughters, and sisters, and wives, and mothers, and we would want them to be heard. This issue is when the courts get invovled: they shouldn't prey on the poor and let the wealthy slide. But Trump ignores the inequities that are the real problem and instead is trying to divide women and men because that is how he does things. Why? To get his nominee pushed through. If this was a question of 'due process' (as many on this sub seem to think), then a week long invetigation with limited investigatory power is an insult to that. Trump didn't want the truth; he wanted his pick confirmed. We should all be smart enough to see through that.
I realize that this may get down voted because we do have Trump supporters here (and I understand his appeal) who don't want to hear criticism of Trump and think he is advocating for men (he's not). But what I appreciate about this subreddit is that even if I express an unpopular opinion, the mods won't ban me, which I can certainly not say about the feminist subreddits on this site that expect users to accept all claims as true and not challenge anybody.

Same (though for assault, not battery). I didn't lose my job and my ex didn't actually admit she lied. However, I was pursued by the prosecutor multiple times and had to get several witnesses to defend me to finally win the case. She would make one call to the police (even months after we had separated) and put me in court for months at a time with thousands in attorney fees. She, on the other hand, leveraged these allegations for a green card and alimony. All this and I was never once found guilty of anything.

Alright, I'm not very familiar with the US legal system, but here's my question. What's stopping the POTUS from signing an executive order that 1. Makes sexual assault laws gender-neutral 2. Seriously penalises false accusations?
[–]Urishima 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
The problem with executive orders is that the next guy can just revoke them. POTUS isn't supposed to make laws, directly or indirectly.

Anything to actually add to the discussion about men's rights or do you just want to obsess more over trump when the post doesn't even speak on him and the only reason he even shows up is because of the image?
[–]tprice1020 -4 points-3 points-2 points 7 years ago (11 children) | Copy Link
The post is a cross post from the subreddit /r/the_donald. I’m saying, fuck that cess pool of russian bullshit. Relevant because it’s the source.
[–]pongpong123able 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I see Russians everywhere
[–]NCahayla -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link
So to be clear you don't have anything to add to the discussion other than your desire to sleep with The Donald?
[–]tprice1020 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
So people can question feminist based sources and it’s cool but I question sourcing content from the_donald and I’m the asshole. Cool.
[–]NCahayla -3 points-2 points-1 points 7 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I don’t know anything about people questioning feminist based sources but nice attempt at changing the conversation. 🤷♂️
Your posts have 0 content regarding men’s rights the only thing you are doing is bashing the subreddit this came from. Why don’t you actually respond to the subject matter instead of worrying yourself over trump?
[–]tprice1020 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
I hope you enjoyed my post history.
And you’ve never seen salon or buzzfeed criticized as sources? Idk what to tell ya man. Thinks can exist without you knowing about them.
[–]NCahayla 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I didn’t look through your post history lol I was referring to your comments on this post sorry for the confusion. You are creating this argument in your head that I’m not making. I think it’s fantastic to be skeptical of all sources and compare.
You are still ignoring the point of my original question which I keep asking. Do you have anything to add to the men’s rights discussion or will you just be spouting off about trump?
[–]tprice1020 3 points4 points5 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You don’t get to determine the scope of the conversation. I have nothing to add to this mans story. I take issue with anything I believe in being delegitimized by Trump.
[–]NCahayla 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Thanks for answering you have nothing to add that’s all I needed to know to end this conversation. Hope you can get over your obsession with trump.
