You ‘think’ and that is the problem, are you willing to send a person to prison, ruin their life and that of their family based on what you ‘think’? I still cannot believe that we, as a society, have yet again arrived at a point where we are willing to condemn a person on an allegation alone. You may think you are safe, that it couldn’t possibly happen to you because you haven’t done anything wrong yet you are advocating and supporting a movement that is putting you at risk of being accused, convicted and incarcerated for a VERY long time based on nothing else but an allegation. The allegation doesn’t even need to be credible, doesn’t need any other evidence to back it up, all that is required is for people to simply ‘think’ that the person may be guilty. The casual way in which so many today casually state that they ‘know/ believe / think’ someone is guilty and don’t care about the consequences for the accused and their families, don’t care if the person is actually innocent, as it doesn’t have any impact in their lives, is truly terrifying.

A lot of innocent people are suffering in prison now because someone ‘thinks’ a person is guilty. Many terrible injustices have been committed throughout history because people chose to ‘think’ witches were real, to ‘think’ mass genocide was acceptable, to ‘think’ people who look different deserve to be enslaved/ treated differently. If people were to stand back and ‘think’ less, if they had used reason and rational more, perhaps many of these injustices could have been avoided. The issue of this particular injustice i.e. immediate belief that an accusation equals guilt is far wider and effects far more than this man alone yet again, society appears to be blind to the lessons of history and determined to create further injustices while destroying many lives in the process, it is a terrifying prospect that most appear to be either unaware or chose to ignore.
