Spell check is useful but this is a demonstration of its flaws. If an organisation wants to be taken seriously, it needs to proofread its correspondence. I don't care if individuals fuck up – we all make mistakes – but organisations should be more careful, especially when they're trying to build credibility in the face of resistance.

That aside, the letter is a good idea. It won't directly achieve what it's asking for but if an institution is repeatedly challenged to consider these issues it could be persuaded to make future campaigns more gender-neutral.
