Tips for someone moving out?

Photograph the condition of the old flat (that you are moving out of). I did that - and also a copy of that days newspaper clearly showing the date - so that when the landlord tried to stiff me for the security deposit, they couldn't. Dumb fucks fought me in small claims and got crushed - the photos showed everything was clean and in good condition and then when they tried to say "but not on that day" I had a photo of the newspaper showing the date. They looked like total asshats and I kept my security deposit.

Pay your rent early, not on time. That way if you are ever competing for an apartment or house in the future, your rent payment history will show you pay early, not on time.

Keep the damn place clean. Can't stress this enough. Don't be lazy. Before you do anything else when you come home from work everyday, or first thing in the morning - your call - at least make sure your dishes are cleaned and not piled up. Clean your apartment(sweep/vacuum) once a week.

I think getting a house cleaner over once a month or at least every couple months for some deep cleaning is totally worth it.

It's like 50 bucks. I can keep the place not messy but I ain't scrubbing the showers and stuff.

Be cool with the neighbors.

Figure out a good grocery routine so that you can always keep stocked with healthy food. (I have like no grocery store near me so I pay 10 bucks a month to get unlimited grocery delivery) This saves money too because when you don't have food you end up eating out.

Do as much furniture and decorating as you can immediately after you move in. Once you get settled you tend to lose motivation and will put stuff off. Can't stress this enough.

Always keep some wine or booze on hand for when you bring a girl over.

Try to make friends with the neighbors next door when you move in.Many benefits to that
