Any of you who used to like Jon Stewart and hate Tucker Carlson: Did you change your opinion of the two ?

Awesome Question! I HATED Tucker from his first appearances on TV through the end of Crossfire - I now think he is one of the finest examples of Edward R Murrow inspired integrity. I loved Jon Stewart from the moment he insisted on hiring his competition (Colbert) for the Daily Show through his ultimate departure - I feel betrayed and saddened that he squandered every bit of influence he amassed over decades.

If you go through my posts you will find I very often call out Jon Stewart for "hurting America" and reference this Crossfire video. There is a lot about Jon Stewart that is admirable but like Bill Maher he seems to have a terminal case of IamRightis and is completely incapable of seeing the staggering hypocrisy he displays on certain issues.

Like Keith Olbermann's Countdown, Jon Stewart's Daily Show could drop me to tears both of laughter and frustration with the system, could make me scream with support for their ideas, and force me to get up and jog around the block to prevent me from throwing a brick at the TV. Both were far more critical of their own parties then any of their contemporaries while occasionally tossing a bone to the opposition. Both created the foundations of an empire that allowed lesser talents to ride their coattails. With only Colbert as the exception I completely loathe every single "talent" that either of these men spawned; and Colbert has become tired and boring.

The Crossfire clip you linked to was pivotal for Tucker Carlson; you will often hear him deny it, but it did sink Crossfire. I have yet to hear him say it, but I also believe this was a "come to Jesus" moment for Tucker. He went from a predictably smarmy front man pitching tired ideas with thinly veiled vitriol to an actual, honest to god, fantastic human being an anchor. If only Jon had reflected on his own advice.

Trevor Noah is a failure when compared to Stewart. Samantha Bee and John Oliver are so formulaic there is --no shit-- web scripts that can generate dialog on any topic in their style. And Jon could have insisted on an actual intellectual comedian as his replacement; instead he went with a slick but dishonest "quota" bobblehead.

I used to enjoy a bunch of those type of comedians: Jon Stewart, Stephen Colbert, John Oliver, etc. But then they all contracted Trump Derangement Syndrome and went insane. It turns out that insane isn't all that funny, it's just boring and predictable.

I've only known who Tucker Carlson was for about the last 2 years or so, but I don't follow him closely. I've seen his recent men's rights pieces, which were good. He's also done some good antifeminist stuff and reported on the campus SJW/Antifa/anti-free-speech lunacy a bunch of times. I wish he'd drop that fake feminist he brings on say wacky stuff - those segments are so obviously scripted to strawman feminism, which undermines his credibility and isn't even necessary when there's so much real feminist lunacy to work with instead.

Stewart was always a disappointment and he knew it. But he never claimed to be better. Not thinking of the feminism thing so much as his other politics. Stephen Colbert has been a huge disappointment since he got paid the big money.

I've heard some good stuff about Carlson more recently but it doesn't make up for the past.

Depends if cucker changed his views on male victims of rape. Last I heard his opinion is that they enjoy it.
