Even though he was bedridden, I'm willing to bet almost everyone would have believed her. Thats how ridiculous people can be when it comes to this issue, and why she made the threat. She knew it would work.

It's terrible that anything like this happened to a kid like that, boy or girl, and it's great that Justice is slowly becoming gender neutral.

"Police arrested Shimizu Tuesday at a Kanewai Street residence, near the University of Hawaii at Manoa campus, on suspicion of 12 counts of first-degree sexual assault and 10 counts of third-degree sexual assault."

"The grand jury charged Rika Shimizu with five counts of second-degree sexual assault and four counts of fourth-degree sexual assault."

Seems a little odd. From what I understand and it might not be true in every jurisdiction, DAs don't have to go to a grand jury to charge. They only do that when they don't feel they have enough evidence. They seemed to have enough evidence to charge her, but the grand jury saw fit to reduce the charges.

From what I understand, DAs do sometimes over charge so they can get the right charges on a plea. Taking it to a grand jury instead of just charging her seems to be counter productive then. Is this a way for the DA to give her a pussy pass and claim plausible deniability?
