Looked at the reviews of Mindhunter. Gone are the days when men were seen as the protectors of women because that's what many men did and still do and women expected. Now a typical man is a misogynist serial killer (for more examples try googling: mindhunter misogyny). They really hate us.

Another idiot saying that we can learn about real life by watching fictional shows. Kemper's mother was an abusive piece of shit and the women he killed, he killed after arguments with mommy. The problem is not misandrists, but the people and the systems that enable them.

Mostly, this is people thinking - well, that is a bit extreme, but understandable, women have been oppressed for centuries.

But in part, it is men. Men who do not stand up for men as a group. For women, sure. For their family, absolutely. For their race, of course (if non-white at least). But for men?

In fact, bashing other men is one of the most effective ways to obtain status - whether physically or verbally. It implies you are one of the few good ones.

We should also not forget what have kept women alive and able to bear children in the 99.9% of human existence plagued by short life spans, sky high child mortality rates, non-existent health care, and ubiquitous armed conflicts.

Their only chance to survive was to pick the men that clearly signalled they would do everything they could to protect them.

This instinct may be superfluous in the rich world today. But biology and culture takes much longer than that to change. That is why when women here men concerned about men as a group or say anything about women that is not unequivocably positive, they feel threatened. Threatened, because men's devotion to protecting them was not only something nice to have, but essential for them to survive at all.

So while I am squarely on the MRM side, I think the debate might benefit from a bit more understanding of where women come from and the enabling role that most men play without any negative intentions. After all, whites may not love blacks, but all men love several women (and I am saying that as a gay man). That should make this problem much easier to solve than racism... right?
