If this is the new women’s movement, it’s no wonder girls don’t want to call themselves ‘feminists’

The pressure for this reform is coming from feminists from what I remember. Does that demonstrate that feminism helps men also? Not at all. Their motivation stems from the fact that the perceive womens careers (relative to mens) as being negatively impacted by the absence from the workplace while raising babies. They simply hope to level the playing field of disadvantages by instituting these changes. It has nothing to do with the fact that men deserve equal treatment or that children will benefit from time spent with their fathers. It's about knee-capping men to help womens careers.

One more point:

The same Canadian Liberal Party actively opposes equal custody. They voted against it last year or so.

So, men will be forced to sidetrack their careers and essentially act as domestic help for their wives, but when divorce comes along they will still lose their kids.

This is so good.

Exactly!

They want to limit any advantage whatsoever that men may have over women.

Women get to keep all advantages they have over men.

Doing the right thing, for the wrong reasons is still better then doing the wrong thing for the wrong reasons.

There's a shit ton of misandry in an article talking about paternity leave might be why it's so hard to get and why it has to be done in secret, but remember the patriarchy benefits all men. Your low lights.

"Trudeau wasn't entirely sure how the policy would work without having negative effects on single mothers and LGBT families, nor did he elaborate on the options under consideration."

"Sophie Mathieu, who researches the Quebec parental leave system, said it's not entirely clear what fathers do with their time off."
