Guy is choking and asks for help so she kills him. She gets away with this because she obviously was feeling down (because she had to take care of a sick old man by herself without the support of people who used to help care for him). She was obviously looking for a way out, and she gets away with it because she'd never kill again?

So what happens if she marries another man and he gets sick?

Fuck that. British men, never get married because your wife can get away with killing you when you're old and sick just because she feels bad.

It's sad to see that this sub became one of many "safe spaces" where you can release your negative emotions without being held accountable for the actual message you send. Is this new /r/MGTOW? I know this thread is full of stories of vicious women getting a so-called pussy pass but maybe it's time for some of you to read such articles without extreme bias against the opposite sex. I am not saying she is guilty or innocent but I would at least try to put myself in the shoes of a long-term and only carer who is old herself. You dismissed her feelings as something fickle and nugatory, as if she just had a bad mood that very day and out of the blue decided that killing her spouse would be fun. Maybe such wives exist but I assure you that caring for a bed-ridden person can be emotionally and physically draining - and yes, emotional exhaustion is WORSE. Sometimes people just can't stand anymore...

Am I trying to justify her? No. I am in no position to exempt her from her deed or condemn her for it. Being a very opinionated person I feel there are cases where judgment should be moderate at best.

Your last sentence is a fantastic example of mysogynistic gabble. I wonder how many men will start patting your back now...

And what message are you trying to send? That murder is acceptable if your 'feelings' were not quite right when you did it? Apparently we are in a society where people are no longer accountable for their actions, could she not have reached out for help herself? There are multiple studies which have shown the different judgement and sentencing that men and women face in the courts, this is merely another disappointing example.

[+][deleted] -10 points-9 points-8 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I honestly don't know how a man would be treated in such a situation.

The thing is, that woman was left alone with a sex offender, people abandoned them. And you speak so lightly, even condescendingly about her feelings, as if they were equal to childish whims. I am not trying to absolve her from what she did, but calling an impulsive act of killing murder softens the gravity of real murders, which are crimes committed with cold blood. Are you suggesting she planned it? And that most British women are prone to killing their husbands in the old age?

[–]the_unseen_one 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Nothing they said is even remotely misogynist. Unless advising men to avoid a situation in which a woman can kill them without punishment is now misogyny?

Extrapolating one extraordinary event to all potential marriages is ridiculous.

[–]the_unseen_one 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link

Fair enough. What he should have said was "British men, never get married because your wife can divorce you, take your kids, your property, your retirement, even your dog, and make you pay alimony and child support to reward her for it". THAT'S why they shouldn't marry. The possibility of getting murdered by your wife and her going free for it is just icing on the cake.

Still not misogynistic in either case.

You should get lots of upvotes for the immense mental gymnastics you performed here.

[–]the_unseen_one 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Please explain what gymnastics were preformed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

Changing the topic from a supposed mercy killing to the unfair divorce law just to bash (British) women.

[–]the_unseen_one 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Legally a murder, but that's semantics I guess. It's not bashing women, it's bashing the laws and advising men to protect themselves in the only method they have available.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

Look, I understand that divorce laws in Anglo-Saxon countries suck for men, but for God's sake, what does it have to do with this occurrence???

Thanks, Bot. I used to admire men... Then I came across /r/theredpill and /r/MGTOW and I was bewildered by what I read. And now I see this place is following in their "brothers"'s footsteps.

[–]the_unseen_one 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The same thing could be said about 2x and /r/feminism in regards to women. But that'd be ridiculous sexism if we did it, right?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm speaking for myself. As always. I don't belong to any group nor do I support any ideology.

[–]emjaytheomachy 3 points4 points5 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Waiting to see if you get banned. I know such a comment with genders reversed would get banned from every feminist subreddit..

[–]the_unseen_one 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've only ever seen deletions for racist comments. Mods here are pretty good about letting feminists spout their bullshit freely. Not sure it's conducive to a good sub, but st least we can feel smugly superior.

Is this what this sub has become? Well then...

[+]HasAnArchmageFetish1 points 8 years ago* [recovered] (7 children) | Copy Link

As someone with a developmental disability that causes me to be extremely fragile around negative emotions I can understand wanting to run away from your problems. But the thing is, when I get overwhelmed by depressive feelings I run away from my problems and try to get help. I don't kill people.

I didn't dismiss the murderous wife's feelings. I was condemning the feelings of the white knight judge who places a woman's emotional state over a man's life. But I suppose I shouldn't be a hypocrite. I've been treated with lenience and understanding by judges before and got out of punishment for it. Only difference was that I was skipping class and she murdered someone.

[–]EricAllonde 2 points3 points4 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Go make this argument about a case where a man killed a woman.

Post the link in this sub so we can see that you're not a total hypocrite and also see that everyone responds with equal sympathy for the killer husband.

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 8 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

I thought murder is killing with premeditation. It looks like she was really overwhelmed with negative feelings. And we all know that feelings are what drives us, don't we?

[–]alclarkey 5 points6 points7 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

So a person who snaps and grabs a blunt object and beats the nearest person to death, that isn't murder because it's not premeditated?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

She didn't beat him up, she smothered him with a cushion. (I don't know if "smother" is the right verb, English is my second language.)

I am not a lawyer but I believe murder must be committed with premeditation.

[–]alclarkey 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I am not a lawyer but I believe murder must be committed with premeditation.

You don't have to be a lawyer to know that murder does not require premeditation. Take my example above and replace bludgeoning with smothering, it still applies, you don't have to plan ahead, if you cause the death of another person (who is not a threat to you, a family member, or another innocent person nearby) intentionally, that is murder. Doesn't matter whether you planned on doing it for days or hours in advance, or you just decided to on the spur of the moment, it's murder.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I am not sure if crime committed in affection can be called murder. But we would have to ask a lawyer.

[–]alclarkey 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Allowing mercy killings would set a dangerous precedent.

[+]BrutDard1 points 8 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You are a cunt.
